That's a cool story about DEADBEAT AT DAWN. I have not seen Van Bebber's full movie either - but Van Bebber was a student of a friend's father in Dayton Ohio - and my friend had on VHS both Deadbeat at Dawn - which his father plays a small role in - and the unfinished footage that had been shot - now more than twenty years ago - for the Manson movie. I think it was about a half hour of footage - but it was raw and intense. I need to see the completed film. Saunders book is really interesting as it goes a lot more into the background of the family, although his writing style takes a little getting use to. I read the book in my late teens, and it's one that has stuck with me over the years. It's been interesting to see how the real-life case has influenced horror from both books and movies, over the last 400-odd years.

I really liked Jim Van Beeber's film, bar one or two modern sequences. I was also given a beat up copy of the Ed Saunders book a few weeks ago... maybe I'll read it before diving into this film.JP Mulvanettihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05381363705787780363noreply@blogger.com
